Yep, that’s right. This ain’t no clickbait title. I’ve actually been nominated for an award!
I found out a couple of weeks ago, and haven’t actually got round to blogging about it yet (lol irony), but I’ve been shortlisted in the Lifestyle Blogger category in the Northern Blog Awards.
Honestly, the fact that I’m sat here writing this now absolutely blows my mind. Not only did at least 1 person nominate me in that category, but a judge also went through and chose me to be on the shortlist. THAT’S INSANE.
Blogging can sometimes be a bit difficult for me, especially when life gets busy or work can be particularly stressful. It just sucks the fun out of it for me, and it can really leave me with no motivation. Something which then leads to guilt, which then just turns into one big vicious circle. I’ve also been comparing myself to others a lot recently, which has certainly knocked my confidence a bit.
That’s why this nomination means so much to me.
Being shortlisted in the Lifestyle Blogger category isn’t just a massive compliment as a blogger. This is a reminder to me, as a writer, that people appreciate the content I produce. It’s a reminder that regardless of whether or not I think I’m good enough; someone else out there thinks I am. There are so many people out there producing killer content who deserve to be nominated for every award under the sun. And I’ve been reminded that I am one of those people.
The tiniest things can make people feel amazing about themselves, which is why if you read a post you love, or see an incredible photo, or even if you just really like someone, you should tell them. Making someone’s day doesn’t take anything from you, and can make such a difference to someone else.
So thank you to whoever chose to nominate me for this award. You’ve changed my view of myself, and reminded me why I sometimes sit on the internet and tap away. And I couldn’t be more grateful.
