Counting down to Leeds Festival 2017

Counting down to Leeds Festival 2017 | Joseph BurrowsAugust is already upon us, which means summer is well underway. But it also means one other major thing. Leeds Festival 2017 is fast approaching.

If you’re a reader then you’ll know that I love festivals. They’re the one thing I look forward to every single year, and Leeds Festival is always the one which bookends my festival season.

I’ve been going to Leeds Festival since 2010, and since it’s only 40 minutes away from my front door it would be rude not to go, wouldn’t it?!

With my countdown to Leeds Festival 2017 officially underway, here’s why I can’t wait to be back in the fields.

Watching some AMAZING bands

Billy Talent. The Pretty Reckless. Muse. Eminem. Fizzy Blood. The list goes on and on. I’ll be seeing some of my favourite bands over the weekend, and I literally can’t wait. Both Muse and Eminem put on some blinding shows, so I can’t wait to see what they’ll be treating us to at Leeds Festival 2017. But my highlight is definitely going to be Billy Talent. The Canadian punks are one of the best bands you’ll ever see, and I can’t wait for their set.

The festival atmosphere

Is there anything better than standing in a field (muddy, obv) with thousands of people, beer in hand, listening to great music? It just makes me feel so carefree,  like I can forget the real world and any worries for a few days. There’s not another feeling like it.

Listening to my summer soundtrack

We need to take a minute to appreciate how AMAZING 2017 has been for new albums. Haim, Oh Wonder and The Amazons have all released some of the best albums of the summer, and Pvris will also be dropping their new record at the end of August. I’ve been listening to most of them on repeat, so I can’t wait to hear the new material live for the first time at Leeds Festival 2017!

Seeing new bands for the first time

Leeds Festival 2017 will be the first time I get to see quite a few bands live and it’s got me SO excited! I’ll be making a beeline for Jimmy Eat World and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, but they’re not even the bands I’m most excited about. First up, there’s Royal Republic who’ve literally just been added to the bill. But the band I’m most hyped for has got to be Breaking Benjamin. It’s only their second time EVER in the UK and I’ve been wanting to see them live for a decade. Hot damn I’m going to lose my mind when they play ‘The Diary of Jane’ and omg I’m so excited.

Finishing festival season on a high

As I said earlier, Leeds Festival usually marks the end of festival season for me. And since it takes place on August Bank Holiday weekend, it pretty much marks the end of summer as well! Leeds Festival 2017 is going to be the perfect way to finish what has been an incredible few months, and I can’t wait to take it out with a bang!

  • Couldn’t agree more with this Joe, a summer isn’t complete without at least one festival trip – ideally more! Leeds was the first festival I ever went to, so this definitely brings back some memories. Fingers crossed you get decent weather for it!
