Making a fresh start

Making a fresh start | Joseph BurrowsWell, this is new, isn’t it?

For those who’ve been around for a while: hey it’s good to see you again! New around here? It’s nice to meet you.

So to recap, I’ve spent the last 2 years blogging over at Northern Blood. But as I’m sure you’ll have noticed, content was becoming pretty rare over there. My heart just wasn’t really in it anymore, even though I still loved blogging.

I originally put it down to suffering from blogger burnout, but even after taking some time out it just wasn’t the same. That’s when I started thinking that maybe it wasn’t blogging that was the problem, but my blog itself.

Do you ever cringe when you say something out loud? That’s what I felt like when I said my blog was called Northern Blood. I guess it just felt a bit juvenile? I couldn’t see the longevity in my blog anymore, which is why I decided I needed a change.

Introducing JosephBurrows.co.uk!

I remember how much time I spent trying to come with a cool name back when I first started blogging, only for it to be the thing which ended up putting me off the most. Now I’ve ended up with my own name like one of those ~fancy~ bloggers and I feel like I should’ve just started out like this 2 years ago!

So, what can you expect from my new site?

Well first things first, the place has had a fresh lick of paint! Looks good, don’t you think? I’ve cleaned up the sections a bit, got rid of some outdated posts, and generally spruced up the place. I even updated my ‘About‘ and ‘Contact‘ pages for the first time. Yikes.

Now anyone who has been around for a while will know that I am ALL about music, so I’ve also added a permanent Spotify section in my footer! Make sure you check it out to see what I’m listening to the most at the moment, whether it’s a playlist or an album. No doubt it will be full of Paramore in the coming months because omg I’m so excited for their new album.

Finally, you can expect to see a lot more of me around. I feel like I really want to make a go of it this time. So many inspiring people are out there totally bossing it at the moment and its made me really realise that I want to be one of them.

So here’s to a fresh start and new beginnings. I’m excited, and I hope you are too.

Well congrats on the next chapter in your blogging carrier! This blog does feel a bit more like you (no that I know you personally, but it reflects your posts and insta more). Can’t wait to see your new blog grow and evolve over time 🙂

    • Thank you so much! I was thinking about what you said and I totally agree, it does feel more like me, doesn’t it?!

      Joe

  • The blog is looking great! Yay for a rebrand. Luckily I found a name that I loved from the beginning (but that’s because I just cheated and used my name too haha!). Can’t wait to see some new content! x

  • Woo! Good to have you back, and loving the new look and name 🙂 x http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

  • I fit in the new reader box, I totally understand how you feel though. I started up a blog 2-3years ago called SimplySara and also cringed at the name and design, the whole thing really. I started up http://www.hellosaralou.blogspot.com (I would have used my full name like you but no one can ever spell it right LOL).

Loving the clean lines and simplistic look of your blog, rebranding really gets you excited to blog again doesn’t it?

    Sara

    • Rebranding definitely gets you excited! I feel so much more pride in my new site, it’s great.

Great to know there’s someone who can sympathise with where I’m coming from with this!
