The best shows you can binge watch on Netflix

The best shows you can binge watch on Netflix | Joseph BurrowsI could tell you that I never watch TV. I spend most of my time out socialising, and doing good productive things. But that would make me a filthy liar.

I LOVE me some Netflix. Especially the endless amounts of shows to binge watch on Netflix.

There’s nothing better than getting comfy on the sofa and watching your weekend (and life) disappear as you dive into your new favourite show. I mean sure, you could go outside, but you can’t watch an entire season of Stranger Things outside, can you?

So without further adieu, here are the best shows to binge watch on Netflix.

Orphan Black

I can’t even really tell you much about Orphan Black because of spoilers, but omg this show. All 5 seasons are now available to binge watch to your heart’s content on Netflix and it will take over your life. Twists, turns, and major jaw-dropping moments, you NEED to watch this show.

Once Upon A Time

Love Disney? Then you’ll probably love Once Upon A Time. There are 6 seasons of fantasy drama for you to indulge on, including some of your favourite fairytale characters. There’s even a musical episode in season 6, because it can’t be Disney without songs, right?

Men in suits doing lawyer stuff. The premise of the show is simple, but Suits is excellent. Sure it falls victim to series 4/5 silliness, but the show is still fantastic. Watch it you enjoy smart plot lines and funny writing. Or men in suits. That’s right, I see you ladies all talking about Harvey on Twitter.

Jane The Virgin

Prepare to fall in love with a telenovela which mocks the tropes of telenovelas. The show is funny, heartwarming, and damn dramatic. There are 3 seasons on Netflix, and you won’t be able to resist watching them back to back.

Ru Paul’s Drag Race

For the love of God WATCH RU PAUL’S DRAG RACE. It’s the best show on television. There’s nothing more to say. Just watch it and fall into obsession.

Remember the early days of Pretty Little Liars where the show was excellent and gripping? Well Riverdale is like that, but 1000x better. Season 2 is coming our way in October, and it can’t come soon enough. I’m going to wait until it’s finished streaming weekly so I can binge watch it all in one. Who’s with me?

Designated Survivor

Designated Survivor is american. It’s patriotic. But hot damn it’s good. If you’re a fan of shows like 24, then you need to put Designated Survivor on the top of your list. Expect to make that shocked emoji face plenty of times, because hot damn the twists are real.

Stranger Things

Undoubtedly the best Netflix original show, Stranger Things is a masterpiece. It’s tense, cool, and the cliff-hangers are UNREAL. Which characters are safe? What is the Upside-Down? What else is even going to happen in season 2 because hot damn that trailer got me pumped!? Stranger Things has a lot of ‘splaining to do, and the hype is real.

Gilmore Girls

There’s something so pure about Gilmore Girls. Maybe it’s all the relatable characters who are kind and warm? Or maybe it’s how idyllic life seems in the sleepy town of Stars Hollow? Either way, I can’t even remember how fast I watched the 7 seasons – all I know is that I loved it. Except from the Netflix revival – that was shite.

How To Get Away With Murder

This show is absolutely ridiculous, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t damn addictive. Surprise surprise, the show is about getting away with murder, so of course it’s full of dramz and deception and basically everything that makes bingeable TV good. Because who doesn’t love dramz and deception? Idiots, that’s who.

This list is by no-means exhaustive, but I will be updating this as I watch more shows and as Netflix breaks my heart and removes them from service (I’ll never forgive them for taking away the US Office).

  • Matt Maidment

I’ve just got into Designated Survivor and I’m hooked! Will have to give some more of these a watch too. Thanks!

    • The next season of Designated Survivor starts at the end of the month – I can’t wait!!

  • I haven’t got Netflix (criminal I know) so I haven’t seen any of these except Suits which I absolutely love… have decided that I am going to get it over the Winter and binge during the colder months though!

    • That’s such a good idea, Emma! Seasonal binging is definitely something I can get behind ?.

  • Abi Street

Gilmore Girls and Stranger things are my absolute favourites! I’ve not seen Orphan Black or Riverdale but they both sound good. I’ve been wanting a new series to get hooked on, I started watching Vampire Diaries with my boyfriend, but we’ve slipped out of the routine (i’m hoping we will get back into it because I miss Damon’s face on my screen). Also how excited are you for Stranger Things season 2?!?!?!

    • I’ve heard quite a few people recommend Vampire Diaries, actually! Although if it’s just for Damon I might not be interested to be honest! ?

  • I’ve watched Designated Survivor (well, at least starting from the second half of the first season) and I completely agree about how distinctly American it is. It’s so dripping with patriotic spirit that it’s almost cringe-y, but in the best possible way!

I myself don’t tend to do much binge watching these days. I tend to go for shows that have a pretty heavy storyline, like Broadchurch and The OA, so it’s probably for the best since binging on those shows could lead to some mental doldrums.

    Danielle |

    • Broadchurch and The OA are both on my list – I definitely need to check them out!

      • The OA is without exaggeration one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The pace is somewhat on the slow side, what I would consider pretty realistically paced, but oh man, it’s completely gripping!

  • Emerald Dove

I’ve not watched any of these but I want to give them all a try! I’ve heard great things about Orphan Black

    • Yes! Orphan Black just finished and it was AMAZING. I can’t recommend it enough!

I’ve not got Netflix which is a surprise for a TVAddict like myself! ? I tend to find though I can watch on other platforms so don’t think I’m missing out! Love How To Get Away With Murder but I’m watching Sky Living pace. Do love a Sunday chill and TV binge ?❤️?

  • The Sunday Mode

Oh I love How To Get Away With Murder! That really is such an addictive show, it’s the kind of show where you need the next episode asap and it’s so easy to marathon it. I’d add Grey’s Anatomy to this list though!
